COOPER - Upset-minded Cooper kept knocking, but Commerce kept slamming the door as the Tigers took a hard-fought 27-0 non-district win before an overflow crowd Friday night at Bulldog Stadium.

The defending class 3A state champions, who improved to 3-0 on the season, forced seven Cooper turnovers and turned back three drives inside the ten-yard line to notch their second straight shutout. Class 2A Cooper, which opened the season with victories over class 3A Quinlan Ford and Bonham, fell to 2-1 on the season.

All three of Cooper's scoring threats were stymied by turnovers as Larry Hatley and Demarcus Harrison intercepted Bulldog quarterback Drew Conley in the end zone and Cooper fumbled once at the Tiger 16. Hatley also picked off Conley in the end zone on the last play of the game
