Commerce homes in on Farmersville, 38-0
COMMERCE - Jesse Boyter scored three touchdowns to lead a balanced offensive attack and
the Commerce defense collected its second straight shut-out with a 38-0 District 10-3A win
over Farmersville before a homecoming crowd Friday night at Memorial Stadium.
Boyter rushed for 107 yards and three touchdowns, all in the first half, while the defense
held Farmersville to 104 total yards to improve to 5-2 overall and 4-0 in district play.
Farmersville falls to 2-5 on the season and 1-3 in district.
Senior quarterback Bobby Phifer, who was named Homecoming King in pre-game ceremonies,
turned in a majestic performance as he ran for one score, passed for another, and returned
a punt 52 yards for a touchdown.
Sara Heatherly was named Homecoming Queen.

| Boyter touchdowns all came in the first half on runs of 2,
46 and 21 yards. Commerce's Bobby Phifer added a 53-yard punt return for a touchdown as
Commerce built a 26-0 halftime lead. Phifer,who had 107 yards passing, also threw a
21-yard touchdown pass to Ty Romans in the third quarter. |
| Commerce rolled up 433 yards of offense and held
Farmersville to 99 yards of total offense. The Commerce defense sacked Farmersville
quarterback Adam Torrez seven times. |
