WHITESBORO - The Commerce Tigers raced to a 21-0 first-quarter advantage on their way to clinching their 10th consecutive district championship. The Tigers have lost just one district game in the 1990s.
Commerce (9-0, 6-0 in District 10-3A), ranked fifth in Class 3A, used 11 ball carriers to rack up 376 yards rushing and held Whitesboro (2-7, 0-6) to six total yards.
Sophomore Tommy Wright scored the first Commerce touchdown on a 21-yard fumble return and added another score on a five-yard run in the fourth quarter. Fullback Ryan Sienty accounted for 19 Tigers points with two touchdowns, four point-after kicks, and a 20-yard field goal.
