COMMERCE - It was Friday the 13th, but the Commerce Tigers got the lucky breaks in their 25-0 win over the Quinlan Ford Panthers in the District 11-3A opener for both teams at Memorial Stadium on the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus.

Commerce, the 10th-ranked team in Class 3A, remains undefeated for the season at 6-0, while Quinlan Ford falls to 3-3.

The shutout was the third of the season for the Commerce defense that limited Quinlan to just 132 yards of offense and six first downs, while the Tigers amassed 332 yards on offense; all but 55 coming on the ground.

"It is a big win for us," said Commerce head coach Steve Bragg. "We felt like Quinlan was the hottest team in the district coming into this game. We felt like we had our hands full."

Leading 12-0 at the half, Commerce's first lucky break came at the conclusion of a 10-play, 58-yard drive. On a third-and-10, junior quarterback Shawn Droddy connected on a short pass to junior fullback Ryan Coffey at the Quinlan 20. The 190-pound Coffey carried the ball inside the 5, where he was hit and fumbled.
