The Sagittarius Milky Way
The galactic center of our galaxy is full of star clouds, clusters, and bright and dark nebula. In this image are the Messier objects M-16, M-17, M-22, M-24, M-8, M-20, M-21, M-23, M-25, M-6, and M-28. There are also several NGC objects. Mars was near this area at far right during the summer of 2001 when this image was made. The dark arc at the bottom is the end of my 12.5" Newtonian that I used as a guide scope.
This image is a cropped portion of a composite of three 45 minute exposures on Kodak PPF film. They were made with a Pentax 67 camera with a f/2.8 165 lens at f/5.6.
