The Rosette Nebula
The Rosette Nebula is a bright emission nebula in Monoceros. It has several NGC designations; NGC 2237 & 2238; NGC 2244 & 2246. The nebulosity surrounds a nice open star cluster. It is large at 80'X60'.
This is a ten-frame mosaic which represents twenty hours total exposure time. Each frame is a composite of two one hour exposures on hypered Kodak LE 400 film. The photographic instrument is a 12.5" f/7 Newtonian telescope. Individual frames were registered, aligned and assembled with RegiStar software.
