NGC 6559

This colorful nebula is at the eastern end of a very large complex of emission nebula in Sagittarius. To the right of this image outside the field of view lies the very bright Lagoon Nebula; Messier 8. The faint nebulosity seen at the right edge of the below image extends all the way to NGC 6559's brighter neighbor.  At the top left of this image lies obscuring interstellar dust, as evidenced by the fewer visible stars.

This image is a composite of two 60 minute exposures on hypered Kodak LE 400 film. They were made with my 12.5" f/7 Newtonian.
