NGC 6946

NGC 6946 is a face-on spiral galaxy in the constellation Cepheus. It is a dim visual target in smaller telescopes, but is more impressive in larger ones. It has a concentrated core and in this image red emission regions are seen in the spiral arms.

This image is a composite of two 60 minute exposures on hypered Kodak PJ 400 film taken with my 12.5" Newtonian telescope.
