The M-86 Galaxy Group
Here is an image of the M-86 galaxy group at the Leo-Virgo constellation border. It is dominated by the three elliptical Messier galaxies of M-84 on the far right, M-86 just left of it, and M-87 on the left. There are 15 NGC galaxies easily visible in the image and 12 IC galaxies that can also be seen; although some of them are merely "fuzzy" appearing stars. This image is my 8" deep field. Just below this image is another with the various galaxy designations pasted just to the right of each galaxy.
This image is a composite of two 60 minute exposures on hypered Kodak PJ 400 film. They were shot with my 8" f/4.25 Newtonian.
