M-78 and Barnard's Loop

This part of Orion is an interesting area which includes the supernova remnant Barnard's Loop and the blue reflection nebula M-78 and NGC 2071 at center right. The Loop can be seen in its entirety on wide-field images and it semi-circles the entire constellation.

This image is a composite of one 60 minute exposure on Kodak E200 film and one 50 minute exposure on hypered Kodak Technical Pan film. The photographic instrument was a Takahashi BRC 250.
