M-78 and NGC 2071
These two reflection nebulas are located in the constellation of Orion. M-78 (bottom) is one of the brighter reflection nebulas in the sky and can be seen easily in a small telescope. NGC 2071 is not as bright but still is an easy target. Note the dim wisps of nebulosity and the many dark nebula which betray the presence of inter-stellar dust.
This image is a composite of two 60 minute exposures on hypered Kodak LE400 and a single 60 minute exposure on hypered Kodak Technical Pan B&W film. They were shot with the 12.5" f/7 Newt.
