IC 1396
IC 1396 is a very large and faint emission nebula in the constellation Cepheus. It spans about 3 degrees of sky. There is a dark nebula known as VDB 142 within the nebulosity of IC 1396. It is at the lower center part of the image. The variable star Mu Cepheus is the bright yellow star at the right.
This image is a LAB composite of two Kodak E200 exposures and a single Technical Pan B&W exposure. They were made with a Takahashi BRC 250.
