IC 5146 the Cocoon Nebula
This beautiful combination of red emission nebula and blue reflection nebula is located in the summer milky way constellation of Cygnus. It is crossed by darker dust bands and is also associated with a dark nebula which can be seen on wider-field photographs.
The shot is a composite of two 75 minute exposures on hypered Kodak PJ 400. They were made with the 12.5" f/7 Newt.
